The Grand Californian Hotel and Spa in Disneyland (Anaheim, Ca) has just completed an addition that adds over 200 new guest rooms to bring their total to 948. Even more impressive and exciting for many is the fact that they also added 50 two-bedroom equivalent Disney Vacation Club villas.
This marks the first location for the Disney vacation-ownership program on the west coast of the United States. It also breaks the double digit barrier for the club, as it now consists of 10 unique properties. Seven of these properties are located within the boundaries of Walt Disney World in Florida where the concept all started in 1991. One property is located at Vero Beach in Florida and the other remaining property is at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Purchasing a real estate interest in the vacation club entitles owners to a certain number of ‘points’ which they can use to reserve a room at one of the Disney Vacation Club locations or at over 500 participating partner locations throughout the world.
Club rooms offer the home-away-from-home atmosphere, with most accommodations featuring a fully equipped kitchen, living area, dining area, washer and dryer as well as other amenities. Guests staying at a property located near one of the Disney theme parks also enjoy special privileges that are not offered to non-Disney vacationers.
The Grand Californian was increased by 2.5 acres with the completion of this project. In addition to the rooms, the project also included a new pool, arcade, laundry area, an observation terrace and underground parking. Of course, with a 30% capacity increase to the hotel, additional guest areas had to be included.
This hotel also boasts the only AAA 4-diamond rating in North Orange County and features the well-loved Napa Rose restaurant. Probably of even more interest to most is the fact that the location is literally steps away from Disney’s California Adventure Park, which itself is undergoing a massive addition and remodel.
