A great money-saving tip to help you stretch your trip budget is to bring your own rain ponchos with you. Just stop in to your local discount or dollar store & pick up some of the clear disposable ponchos they sell. You can usually find them in the camping section for $1-2 each. They are small & easy to pack and will save you from purchasing the more expensive Mickey Mouse ponchos in the park. (Of course, the Mickey Mouse ones are cuter, but if you’re just going to throw them away anyway, why not save your money for another Mickey Ears ice cream.)
According to www.weather.com, the next week in Disney World should have isolated and scattered thunderstorms. This time of year, they usually move through in the afternoon, so you’ll be glad you had your ponchos with you. These storms typically come & go quickly, so don’t let that stop you from going to the parks. In fact, the ride lines are usually pretty short just after a thunderstorm has traveled through, so you can sometimes just walk right on to your favorite ride.
A couple of other good tips for the rainy season (or even if you’re just planning to go on a water ride like Splash Mountain), is to bring a couple of zip-top style baggies with you to protect electronics like your cell phone or camera and to bring an extra pair of shoes along. If you don’t want to wait until you get back to your room for a dry pair of shoes, you can even stash them in a locker at the front of the park you’re visiting.
