Walt Disney World guests visiting the area with their pets will now have a new option for boarding their four-legged pals called Best Friends Pet Care Resort.
Beginning Aug. 27, 2010, the new pet resort will begin accepting reservations for dogs and cats as well as “pocket pets,” such as hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits and ferrets. However, this new location is billed as anything but the typical boarding facility.
Up to 30 cats board in the “Kitty City” pavilion, located in an area away from the dog facilities to keep the peace! In the pavilion, cat owners can choose from two and four room condos that will be cleaned daily with disinfectant to insure a pleasant stay.
For the dogs, Best Friends have pulled out all the stops and offer several suite options including air-conditioned indoor rooms, 48 square foot indoor/outdoor suites and four VIP (very important pet) suites that include a television for companionship, raised bedding and private outdoor yards.
The facilities do not stop at the rooms and suites. An expansive dog park includes a fenced walking trail bordering the natural wetlands, a 3,300-square-foot area covered in artificial turf, a 4,500-square-foot area with shade trees and a 1,300-square-foot “canines only” water park. The dog park offers several areas for owners to come and watch their dogs at play and are secured from outside visitors.
Other amenities include grooming facilities, camp-rooms and doggy day camp – all designed with the pet and the owner in mind and all neatly tucked in a location near the Port Orleans Resort.
Best Friends is no stranger to pet-care. They were founded in 1991 and today operate over 40 facilities in 18 states.
