Premiering in 2003, Mickey’s Philharmagic located in Fantasyland of the Magic Kingdom is an entertaining 3-D attraction filled with music and classic Disney characters that all should recognize.

The attraction starts off with the premise that Mickey Mouse is going to conduct his Philharmagic Orchestra to the delight of all those who attend. Guests are given a pair of opera (3-D) glasses before being allowed to enter the concert hall.

Once seated, voices of Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald make it clear to the audience that something is wrong, the orchestra is missing.  Donald is instructed to set-up the instruments but told explicitly by Mickey that he should not touch his Sorcerer’s hat. Donald grabs all of the instruments, including a grand piano, out of a small case, but then glances the hat and disobeys Mickey’s orders.

Donning the sorcerer’s hat, Donald immediately sets events in motion.  Classic characters and songs are encountered as Donald tried to recover the hat which he has lost.  Some of the songs included are “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast and “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid.

Donald continues to struggle to retrieve the hat, only to have things set in order at the end by Mickey himself.

Long-time visitors to the Kingdom may recall several other attractions which were once housed in this theater.  Namely,The  Mickey Mouse Revue, Magic Journeys and, most recently, Legend of the Lion King.

Techies will be interested to know that the 150-foot wide, 28-foot high screen is one of the largest ever constructed for a 3-D presentation such as this.

Some dark scenes occur during the show, but the entire family should find it quite entertaining.
