Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Vehicles

In what could quite possibly be one of the most relaxing rides in the park, the Main Street Vehicles provide a portal to the past as they slowly make their way up and down Main Street, U.S.A. of the Magic Kingdom.

Several different vehicle options are available depending on the day and the crowds. All the vehicles make stops either at the front of Main Street Station or in front of Cinderella Castle. No restrictions are placed on the riders, but of course seating availability is limited.

If you take the time, you might get to ride a horseless trolley which rides on the steel tracks that are embedded into the street. The trolley is drawn by either Belgians or Percherons, both breeds which are known for their strong pulling abilities. In fact, there were normally used to pull plows in Europe. The horses are shod with plastic to make it easier on the one-ton creatures. When they are not pulling the trolley, the horses are usually stabled inside Main Street Car Barn where you can visit them. At night, the horses are taken to a barn at Disney’s Fort Wilderness.

Riders may also hop aboard an omnibus which carries passengers on two levels or a horseless carriage, both of which are fitted with a special muffler giving them a putt-putt sound as they roam down the street.

The final, but extremely popular option, is a red fire engine that holds several passengers on the leisurely ride down Main Street.
