Located immediately after the security check and admission gates of the Magic Kingdom is Main Street Station. This turn-of-the-century looking structure acts as the closest stop of the Walt Disney World Railroad to the entrance of the park, but also serves as the gateway into the kingdom.
Once you pass through the tunnels underneath the station, you get your first glimpse of Main Street, U.S.A. which is a re-creation of an early 1900’s American small town. Main Street Station is located at one end of the street with Cinderella Castle located at the other end. In between you will find several places worth spending some time in like shops, a bakery and a barber shop, just to name a few.
Near the station, you will find places to rent storage lockers as well as strollers and wheelchairs. Small carts can also be found which contain the usual assortment of Disney merchandise, and a limited selection of sundries like suntan lotion.
Many utilize the decks of the Main Street Station to get excellent elevated views of the Magic Kingdom’s parades and fireworks. Of course, anyone interested in doing this needs to plan ahead as the spaces fill up fast.
The video above shows the rope-drop ceremony which is hosted on the Main Street Station and welcomes early visitors to the park (thanks to ctxrover1 for providing it).
