Those looking for a relaxing, air-conditioned break from the hectic streets of the Magic Kingdom may well find comfort in the Country Bear Jamboree located in Frontierland. Sit back and enjoy the twangy country music provided to you courtesy of singing bears.

The history of this unique experience can be traced directly to Walt Disney himself who wanted a show with singing bears to be featured in Disney’s Mineral King Ski Resort which he was planning in California. After Walt’s passing, plans for the resort fell through, but the idea remained and Imagineer’s planned to include it in the yet to be completed Walt Disney World.

Included as one of the original opening attractions of WDW, it was an immediate sensation. It seems folks really enjoyed the audio-animatronic (lifelife robotic creatures) show. In a turn on the normal, plans were immediately drawn up to add the attraction to Disneyland the next year. (Most of Disney World’s attractions were based on Disneyland.)

Entertained by such talent as Henry, Liver Lips McGrowl, Wendell and Teddi Barra, guests have been taking in the show almost non-stop since its introduction. Some modifications and improvements have been added, but in concept, it is basically still the same show. Several holiday seasons even saw a Christmas version of the show, but it has not been shown recently.

The Disneyland Country Bear Show closed in 2001 to make room for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh but those classic Disney show lovers can still find the original operating at the Magic Kingdom.

The entertainment lasts 17 minutes, so enjoy.
