With New Year’s just a few days away, it is your last chance to make a jolt for Disney World to see the Christmas decorations before they start coming down early next week.
As this is an extremely busy week in the parks, and as many families visit post-Christmas, pre-New Years, Disney tends to wait until the week after the 1st to take the holiday decorations down giving visitors some extra time to absorb the season. Of course, with the higher than average crowds in attendance this time of year, it might be nice to have some extra scenery to look at.
Many comments have been made this year about a decreased level of decorations throughout Disney compared to previous years. While nothing official has been stated, it might be true to an extent. The current economy has hit Disney just as it has everywhere else, and they may have cut a few things out to compensate.
What is more likely, however, is that a few things were cut, and visitors have noticed making them even more dutiful in looking at decorations.
One example of a cut was the Lights of Winter located at the entrance to the World Showcase coming from Future World in Epcot. It was a perennial favorite for many and added a lot of festivity to the park. Multiple arches over the walkway were covered with holiday lights which ‘danced’ to various holiday songs. Disney stated obsolete technology as the reason for its removal.
So, if you want to get a last look at Disney’s holiday side, better hurry down, only a few days left.
