With the Thanksgiving Holiday behind us, thoughts can now turn to the fast-approaching Christmas season. That fact is not lost on Disney whose theme parks and resorts have been decked out in holiday garb for weeks now.
Accordingly, we here at All Things Mouse thought it would be a good time to cover a few of the holiday events, attractions and activities available at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Covered items include special parties, concerts and decorations found throughout the world.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Anyone who has been to Disney World during the Christmas season undoubtedly thinks of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. This is a special hard-ticket event which is run at the Magic Kingdom Park on select nights.
Disney started the parties this year in early November, however, many nights are still available for those who would like to attend. Remaining party nights include November 27th, 29th and 30th, as well as December 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20 and the 21st.
Prices range from $58.95 to $67.95 for adults depending upon which night is selected. This entitles guests to entry during the party which is run from 7PM-Midnight.
According to Disney, the party offers: “The enchanted Castle Dream Lights on Cinderella Castle; Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade, complete with a special appearance by Santa Claus himself; An exclusive holiday fireworks extravaganza — Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season; Live entertainment featuring Disney Characters; Meet and greet opportunities throughout Magic Kingdom theme park with some of your favorite Disney Characters; Complimentary cookies and hot cocoa; A magical snow fall on Main Street, U.S.A. and Special access to many of the most popular Magic Kingdom attractions.”
Epcot’s Candlelight Processional
In the Epcot theme park, Disney offers guests the chance to attend a showing of the Candlelight Processional. The processional is a telling of the Christmas story by a celebrity guest narrator who is joined by a mass choir and 50-piece orchestra.
Narrators scheduled to still perform include the following:

There is no additional cost to attend the processional, but it does fill to capacity fast so arrive early. It is held in the America Gardens Theater in front of the American Adventure pavilion.
The resorts of Disney World become an even more magical place during the holidays as they are dressed up with amazing holiday decorations. A perfect example of this is the Grand Floridian Resort where a massive gingerbread house is put on display in the lobby area.
Disney touts the display with ” the life-size gingerbread house is back, made with 1,050 pounds of honey, 700 pounds of chocolate, 600 pounds of powdered sugar…it takes about 400 hours to bake the gingerbread and another 160 hours to decorate! Guests can learn how to decorate a gingerbread house with the pros every day (except Sunday) in the lobby, and buy all sorts of goodies, from cookies to peppermint bark and lollipops, all made in the Grand’s bakery. You can see it until New Year’s Day.”
Other resorts are also adorned for the season.
For those guests contemplating a visit, the All Things Mouse December 2012 Disney World Park Hours may be of assistance in planning your trip. Do not forget that Disneyland in California also becomes an even more magical place during the Christmas season. We also have those operating hours with the December 2012 Disneyland Park Hours.
