Epcot’s Lights of Winter Discontinued

Evidently it is official, Epcot at Walt Disney World has discontinued the Lights of Winter, a canopy of thousands of colored lights that ran on the walkway between Future World and World Showcase during the holiday season.

The lights also ‘danced’ to seasonal music throughout the evening and was included as part of the Tree Lighting Treat ceremony that featured Mickey and Friends.

Citing obsolete technology, the official Twitter for Disney Parks had this comment:

Note:The Lights of Winter at Epcot has been enjoyed for years. But tech to operate the lights is obsolete, prompting us to retire the lights.

For a nice reminder of what the lights had to offer, please take a look at the video below (Thanks to NorthernMousePodcast for providing it!)
