Walking around the World Showcase of Epcot in Walt Disney World, guests will soon encounter the France Pavilion. Well known for its signature restaurant, there is plenty else to find here.
First on the list of must-dos is Impressions De France. This charming movie is filled with the sights and sounds of France and will be sure to evoke a desire to travel to the country as soon as you get home! Unlike some of the other country-themed films shown in Epcot, Impressions is not in Circle-Vision. Instead, it was shot with only five cameras and plays out on screens reaching 200 degrees around.
While many tend to overlook this retreat from the crowds found outside, it does offer a few minutes of cool surroundings where you can re-charge to do a bit of shopping in the French area.
French fragrances and soaps can be found at the Art Nouveau style Plume Et Palette. Close by, La Signature also offers French fragrances along with other cosmetics. L’Esprit De Provence showcases items from sourther France including kitchen accessories and ceramics.
Wine connoisseurs will want to stop by Les Vins De France which offers wine-related paraphernalia like racks, books, etc. along with a selection of French wines. Tasting is available, for a fee.
The last shop offered is Souvenirs De France. As the name implies, it is the catch-all for those wanting to go home with a “piece” of France. Items for sale include CDs, T-Shirts, berets, etc.
Finally, the place that the France Pavilion is known for, Chefs De France. While the cuisine is based on French cooking, American diners will find it lighter than the typical French fare as the sauces are prepared using less cream and butter making them more in line with American palates. Reservations for this prime spot are recommended!
