Offering an interactive reading experience to kids of all ages, Disney Publishing Worldwide launched Disney Digital Books (www.disneydigitalbooks.com) last week. Over 500 books are available now on the site which are geared towards varying interests and multiple reading levels.
Utilizing common web browser technology, the Disney Digital Books allow subscribers to interact with the books in several ways including looking and listening to a story as it is read by a narrator, creating unique stories themselves and an age-appropriate dictionary that enables readers to select words they do not know, and have it read to them along with a definition they should be able to understand. Since it is web-based, most any internet capable computer will be able to be used on the site.
“Disney Digital Books is an industry-defining service that Disney Publishing is uniquely qualified to deliver,” said Russell Hampton, President, Disney Publishing Worldwide. “As one of the world’s largest publishers of children’s books, we have an extensive library of titles featuring Disney’s beloved characters, with something for every level of reader.”
Reading levels are broken down into three categories:
- Beginning readers and those who are read to by others.
- Those children who are starting to read independently.
- Children who are reading chapter books.
Disney is offering the program to subscribers for $8.95 a month or $79.95 for a year. A subscription will allow up to three children in the same household to access pages designed for them. Gift subscriptions will also be available online or at select retailers. For more information, take a look at the video below or visit their website mentioned above.
