Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort is a deluxe level resort located in the Magic Kingdom area of Walt Disney World. It opened on May 28, 1994.

Wilderness Lodge is themed in a Pacific Northwest style with the main building modeled after Old Faithful Inn located in Yellowstone National Park. The interior of the main building is impressive to say the least with a seven-story lobby and a 82-foot-tall fireplace.

Even if you don’t plan on staying at Wilderness Lodge, it is well worth your time to visit the resort. It can be found along the shores of Bay Lake near the Fort Wilderness Resort.

The deluxe level Wilderness Lodge has 727 guest rooms offering themes of wildlife, nature and Native American designs. It also offers several amenities for those that do not want to either be at the nearby theme parks or stay cooped up in their room.

Wilderness Lodge hosts two pools, and of course, the white sandy beaches of Bay Lake. Those looking for a swim will have to confine themselves to the pools however, as the lake is not for swimming. Don’t be concerned, however, as the pools are very nice. The resort features a “bubbling spring” which grows into a small creek before crashing into a waterfall and emptying into one of those pools. Of course, the standard boat and bike rentals are also a nice option to pass the time.

Hungry guests will want to hunt out Whispering Canyon Cafe for a very unique experience sure to entertain both the kids and adults alike in the group. Or take in Artist Point for a finer dining option.

The Wilderness Lodge Mercantile is a great option for those who like to do a little shopping. The Mercantile is filled with many Disney related clothing and memorabilia as well as some necessities that you may have forgotten from home.
