Toy Story Mania! found in Disney’s Hollywood Studios of Walt Disney World is one of the most popular attractions in the Florida theme park.

That popularity is owed to several factors, among which is its relative newness. The attraction opened on May 31, 2008 and has been packing them in ever since.

Of course, another factor playing an influence on the number of guests who take time out of their day to experience the attraction is its subject matter. It is based on the characters of the hugely popular Disney Pixar movie franchise – Toy Story.

By using the likenesses of Buzz, Woody, Rex, Hamm, Bo Peep, etc., the ride has an immediate built-in fan base. Add to that the high tech gaming that is involved, and it is not hard to understand why the lines for this attraction can get so long.

Those who do brave the lines (or are lucky enough to get a FASTPASS for it) are treated to classic carnival games taken to the Disney extreme. No, you do not just walk up to a booth and try to land a ring on a bottle to win a prize. Instead Disney used the Toy Story theming and the newest technology to immerse you in the experience.

Boarding a ride vehicle (which seats 4, two back to back), you don your 3-D glasses and head into the adventure. Your vehicle transports you through a series of 3-D screen games where you play to win as many points as you can with your virtual launcher. That launcher will shoot several projectiles depending on what scenario you are in at the time ranging from darts to eggs to pies.

The vehicle can move quite fast and will spin around, so prepared for it, but you are definitely in for a lot of fun working your way to perhaps a new high score! Also, as mentioned before, the attraction is very popular so plan to head there first thing in the morning or see if you can snag a FASTPASS for later in the day. Otherwise, the standby queue can be extremely long.
