While most people tend to visit Walt Disney World to get away from the hustle and bustle of the real world and relax, a few who visit The American Idol Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will actually get the opportunity to participate in a nationwide talent contest.
Now, anyone who has not heard of American Idol must not watch any TV or talk to anyone at work. The extremely popular television show dates back to 2002 and has gone one to “discover” many talented acts including Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Fantasia Barrino, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry and Jordin Sparks, among many others. It uses the popularity of the acts with the audience as a determining factor in who stays along with the input of three ‘professional’ judges.
Now those ambitious enough to compete will not get to see the likes of Paula Abdul or Simon Cowell at their Disney World experience, but they will have to impress some behind the scenes officials before they will even be allowed the opportunity to perform on stage. Those interested in this option will want to head in immediately at park opening as the slots for performances during the day do fill up fast.
This experience is not just for the performers. Of course, an audience is needed as well. Scheduled performance times may be found in the daily park schedule, but try to make your way their a little early so you are prepared to vote on your favorite performance.
That’s right, the audience gets to vote on their favorites, just like the television show. Finally, the winners of the previous shows that day compete together in a final show, and this win is not just for bragging rights. The person who wins the final show of the day gets a Dream Ticket good for a front-of-the-line pass to any American Idol audition across the country. While it does not guarantee that person a position on the TV show, it does mean that they will for sure be heard by those in charge of finding talent for the show.
Those up for an entertaining time, with perhaps a little judge heckling thrown in for good measure, will want to attend The American Idol Experience.
