The Indiana Jones™ Epic Stunt Spectacular of Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World is one of the most popular attractions in the theme park. The informational stunt show centers around the fictional character of Indiana Jones and the corresponding movie franchise.
Disney opened the attraction on August 25, 1989, just a few months after Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened (the theme park was originally named Disney-MGM Studios when it opened). The show takes place in a 2,000 seat open air amphitheater, although it is covered allowing guests a more enjoyable time during inclement weather and on those blaring hot sunny days.
Once seated, the action begins! Your are given a front-row seat to an action scene from one of the Indy movies. Indy (actually a stunt double) recreates a scene in which he works his way through some dangerous maneuvers to steal an idol. Of course, once he steals it, a boulder comes rolling out of the wall and chases him down. Don’t worry, he is not actually hurt and this is where the audience is let in on the fact that it is actually a stunt recreation.
The audience is introduced to the stunt actors as well as the production crew and they are also informed on how some of the stunts are performed. In fact, some lucky audience members are even allowed to participate in a scene. Don’t worry, they don’t get hurt either.
Guests are treated to several action packed stunts that even involve a plane, exploding trucks, fire, and of course, a lot of movement.
All in all, this attraction lives up to the Indiana Jones title and will entertain you for the duration of the show. It is well worth your time to plan to take in one of the several showings offered each day.
