This review and video attempts to give readers an idea of what to expect from what is considered Walt Disney World’s flagship resort – Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Those staying at the Grand Floridian can expect to be treated to amenities typically associated with a luxury hotel, and they will likely not be disappointed.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa originally opened for operation on June 28, 1988. For the first several years, the hotel was known as the Grand Floridian Beach Resort. The name was changed to its current title in 1997.

The Grand Floridian is located along the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon along with the neighboring Disney’s Polynesian Resort. Both are considered Magic Kingdom resorts because of their proximity to the theme park, however, there are no walking paths to Magic Kingdom from either like there is from Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Guests staying or visiting the Grand Floridian can get to Magic Kingdom Park by taking either a boat or hopping on the monorail. Epcot can also be reached via monorail (although a transfer is required) with both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom reachable by bus. Of course, those with cars can also drive to each location.

Those looking for some dining options at the resort should easily be able to find something to meet their needs from fine dining to a quick snack. Among those options is Victoria & Albert’s considered by many to be one of the best restaurants in the state. Also found there is Cítricos and Narcoossee’s which both feature themed dining. Another great option is 1900 Park Fare which has a buffet and includes characters.

As the name of the resort indicates, a full service spa is available at the resort for those looking for a place to unwind. Those looking for something a bit more fun may enjoy the various watercraft rentals or one of the two pools offered there.

All of the luxury of the hotel does not come cheap, but can be a great value as long as potential guests choose to enjoy the experience.
