The new lights, water, video and music extravaganza known as World of Color at Disney’s California Adventure has proven extremely popular with the west coast theme park guests.

So much so, in fact, that Disney announced today that they are adding another show to the nightly line-up of World of Color offerings.  This brings the total to three giving guests several opportunities a night to take in the new attraction.

World of Color premiered just last month and has proven to really be a new favorite among the guests of California Adventure. Many report that the theme park appears to have been given a second life with this new show along with several other changes completed or in the works.

Since opening in 2001, attendance has never been stellar.  Many complained that the park (which resides across a promenade from Disneyland) featured too few attractions to justify the same ticket price as Disney charged for entrance into Disneyland.  To combat this, Disney initiated a $1.1 billion expansion plan for the park in 2007 (estimated to be almost double what the park cost originally).

Their efforts seem to be paying off, especially where the World of Color is concerned –  which was part of the expansion.  Already showing two times a night at 9:00 and 10:15, the new plans call for another show at 11:15. The additional showing also allows Disney to keep California Adventure open longer at night with several of the attractions running through the end of the last World of Color each night.
