Downhill Double Dipper of Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park in Walt Disney World is a race of sorts pitting you against another individual as you slide down the water slide on your inner tube. This can be great fun especially if you have a few competitive spirits in your group.
Downhill Double Dipper was built to resemble an Olympic style down-hill ski race complete with starting gates and a time clock to track who won the race. But of course, as it is located in Blizzard Beach of Walt Disney World instead of in the mountains, this race places you on a surface of water (with inner tube) instead of snow!
Disney describes the attraction with:
“Downhill Double Dipper at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is a waterslide race on inner tubes for big kids, teen and adults who are at least 48 inches tall. Two parallel flumes pit two racers against each other in a race to the bottom of Mount Gushmore.”
Make your way to the Purple Slope of Mount Gushmore to ride Downhill Double Dipper. It is one of three attractions on the Purple Slope, all of which feature multiple tracks to allow for racing! The other two attractions on Purple Slope are Snow Stormers and Toboggan Racers.
To get to the top of Mount Gushmore, take the marked walking path, but be warned, there are many steps. A better option may be to take the Chairlift which offers a leisurely ride up to the top.
