Walt Disney World’s newest resort has released updated opening dates that are earlier than originally announced giving potential guests even more options this summer. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will have a grand opening on May 31st.

At that time, the Finding Nemo wings of the Art of Animation Resort will be open. Additional wings will open in intervals throughout the summer with the complete schedule  outlined below:

  • Finding Nemo (Grand opening) – Opens May 31
  • Cars – Opens June 18
  • Lion King – Opens August 10
  • Little Mermaid – Opens September 15

It is likely that the above schedule is subject change but barring any major unforeseen circumstances the listed dates should be pretty close to accurate.

“We are excited that the Cars, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid wings at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will all open earlier than we originally planned” said Kevin Myers, vice president of resort operations for Walt Disney World Resort.

The Cars Wing had been set to open on July 31st but will now be available on June 18th as shown above. It will be followed by the Lion King Wing on August 10th instead of the previously planned September 30th. Finally, the Little Mermaid Wing had been scheduled to open at the end of the year but will now begin accepting guests on September 15th.

For those who do not know about the Art of Animation, it is Disney’s newest value level resort and is located across the lake from Disney’s Pop Century Resort. Unlike the other value’s, Art of Animation will be mostly family suites (1,120 of them in fact) spread out across the Finding Nemo, Cars and Lion King wings of the complex. The resort will also host traditional value level rooms (864 of them) in the Little Mermaid wing.

The theming of the resort is based on the aforementioned Disney and Disney/Pixar animated films. Colorful buildings and larger than life movie icons will be found throughout the resort.
