The Indiana Jones™ Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye Ride is one of the newest offerings available at the Disneyland Park of California. The ride opened for the first time on March 3, 1995 and has become a favorite of many since then owing to its excitement and Indiana Jones affiliation.

It should be noted that the ride is likely not appropriate for everyone. There are elements to the ride which may frighten some such as animatronic snakes, mummies, etc., and the entire time is spent at low light levels (as can be ascertained from the above video).

To find the Indiana Jones ride, head to the Adventureland area of Disneyland. The ride entrance is located near the Jungle Cruise attraction.

The creation of the ride was based on the enormous success of the Indiana Jones™ Epic Stunt Spectacular of Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. Owing to its popularity, Indiana Jones creator George Lucas opted to join forces again with Disney and create an enhanced motion vehicle ride based on the movies.

To create room for the ride, a portion of the old “Eeyore” parking lot was removed and the Jungle Cruise and monorail attractions were rerouted. This gave them the are needed to house the show building and the queue area leading up to it.

The attraction has remained relatively unchanged since the opening. After a detailed queue area, guests board the ride vehicles for a trip through the darkly lit show building. On the ride, guests follow the storyline of joining Dr. Indiana Jones on a quest through a perilous temple.

Disney describes the ride with:

“Enter the legendary Temple of the Forbidden Eye on a daring journey in search of unimaginable rewards. Deep inside the temple, you embark on a fast-paced thrill ride aboard a rugged troop transport. There are ominous signs of danger ahead, but, with famous archaeologist Indiana Jones on your side, what could possibly go wrong?”

As previously stated, this ride is not for everyone – especially those that are pregnant and those suffering from heart conditions, motion sickness, back issues, etc. Still, it can be a thrilling time for those that dare to enter!
