Disneyland’s Golden Horseshoe Saloon was one of the original attractions that opened with the park in 1955. This All Things Mouse review and video of the attraction hopes to inspire you to at least take a glimpse inside, even if you don’t have the time to stay awhile.
Back in the first days of the park, the location was the site of the classic entertainment option known as Slue Foot Sue’s Golden Horseshoe Revue. The show ran a record 39,000 times and holds the Guinness Book of Records title as the longest-running musical of all time.
In more recent days, Billy Hill and the Hillbillies assumed the position of entertainment at the venue. They may not be present at your visit, but typically some sort of entertainment is offered, just check your park maps for times.
Even if no entertainment is available, the Golden Horseshoe Saloon is still worth a stop to take in the ambiance of and old west style saloon, or perhaps get some grub. The saloon offers quick service fare such as chicken breast tenders, fish and chips, chili cheese fries, Mile High chocolate cake, mint chocolate sundae, strawberry sundae, the Golden Horseshoe Ice Cream Float and hot fudge sundae.
The location is truly special at Disneyland as it was likely one of Walt Disney’s favorites. He held his 30th anniversary party in the saloon a few days before Disneyland actually opened. He even had a private box reserved for him at all times to enjoy the show.
