For those that love roller-coasters, one ride not to be missed at the Disneyland Park of California is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Now to be honest, this is not the most intense roller-coaster you can experience, but the theming and tight curves of Big Thunder Mountain will offer a very enjoyable time to many.

The ride is located in the Frontierland area of the park. To start off with, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is considered one of the mountain attractions of Disneyland.  In the company of Space Mountain and Splash Mountain, you can immediately consider the ride worth your time.

“Thunder aboard a runaway mine train on a fast-paced thrill ride through the barren landscape of the Old West,” describes a paragraph on the Disneyland website about the attraction.
“Get ready for the time of your life, because Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is “the wildest ride in the wilderness”!

As for the theming, the mountain was created to resemble the Bryce Canyon peaks of Utah and Arizona’s Sedona. The legend of the mountain, however, is traced to one in Wyoming that was said to thunder as men attempted to dig for gold.

This legend plays nicely with the attraction which features a mining town and a train. The train plays the most integral part of the experience since the “runaway train” is your roller-coaster. Board it and be ready for a thrilling time!

As with all coasters, consideration should be taken by those who are pregnant, have heart problems, back problems, etc. If you can, however, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is truly one of the not-to-be-missed experiences of Disneyland.

Those who have experienced the similar Disney World Big Thunder Mountain will still want to take a ride on its Disneyland cousin.
