Disney Vacation Club Coming To Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

The Walt Disney Company confirmed plans this week for a Disney Vacation Club expansion to take place at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. An estimated 147 time-share units will be built at the Grand Floridian in a separate building from the rest of the resort.

This new Disney Vacation Club addition is expected to open in late 2013 with groundbreaking planned soon. Aside from the new building constructed solely for the DVC, it is als0 expected that some of the rooms of the current resort will be converted for use by the vacation club as well.

“We continually look for ways to expand Disney Vacation Club by creating resort experiences that our members will love,” said Claire Bilby, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Vacation Club. “With the continued popularity of Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, we are thrilled to offer our members and guests a new resort option along the monorail system with easy access to the Magic Kingdom Park, as well as a variety of shopping, dining and recreation experiences.”

The opening of the new resort will bring the total Disney Vacation Club locations to twelve. The most recent opening was Aulani: A Disney Resort and Spa which opened in Hawaii earlier this year. Other locations include these eight at Walt Disney World Resort -Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, Disney’s Beach Club Villas, Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, The Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

At Disneyland, DVC offers The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Two other off-park locations aside from Aulani include Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort  at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and Disney’s Vero Beach Resort at Vero Beach, Florida.

Disney Vacation Club is a time-share division which allows purchases of shares in a home resort. Points owned can then be used at other locations allowing a multitude of vacation options.
