Plans are in the work for what could prove to be one of the most popular FASTPASS options in all of Walt Disney World – a Meet and Greet with Mickey Mouse!

With the recent closing of Mickey’s Toontown Fair planned as part of the large Fantasyland expansion currently underway, the Meet and Greet location used for years for Mickey Mouse is no longer available. It had been located at the Judge’s Tent by Mickey’s Country House, all of which is being removed for the construction.

Temporarily, Mickey Mouse is greeting guests at a location in Tomorrowland. It is found just to the right of Space Mountain.

However, his new permanent home is going to be found on Main Street at the Town Square Theater to be located inside the current Exposition Hall. Construction on this location is also currently underway adding new amenities making it ideal for a meet and greet of Disney’s most famous icon.

“This isn’t just remodeling Expo Hall; it is completely re-imagining this entire venue as a beautiful Victorian-era theater and the new home for Mickey Mouse,” said Jon Georges, WDI Director, Senior Show Producer.

A marquee lit up with lights and trimmed in gold leaf will announce that Mickey Mouse may be found here. Once inside, guests will find a grand vintage theater complete with mosaic floors, rich looking cloth curtains with gold braided tie backs and even polished brass chandeliers.  In keeping with other updated queue lines, the one to meet Mickey will include interactive elements to keep guests entertained while they wait to meet the mouse.  These interactive games will be a welcomed addition to the wait line which at times can exceed two or even three hours.

However, for those with young ones unwilling to wait so long to meet Mickey, Disney is also going to add the FASTPASS option. Just like FASTPASS for other rides and attractions, it will allow any guest with a valid park admission to obtain a ticket (when available) which gives them a one hour return time later in the day. Guests can then return during that window and skip the long standby queue and enter the FASTPASS queue which should be typically much shorter.

The new Mickey Meet and Greet is planned to open sometime this summer.
