The Disney Cruise Line has released some details for its new cruise ship called the Disney Dream due to set sail in January of 2011. Many features are slated to be integrated into this new ship, with several of them new to the industry in general.
One of these unique experiences is called the AquaDuck. It is the first water coaster ever aboard a cruise ship. The ride is said to be 765 feet long and 4 decks high. Details state it will jog out from the ship 13 feet where the tube will be 150 feet above the water.
Another unique addition to the Disney Dream is going to be virtual portholes in the guest cabins that do not have a window or a verandah. These portholes will be linked to high resolution cameras so that guests can see what is happening on the outside. However, every once in a while, animated characters may also appear on the screen such as nigel the sea gull from Finding Nemo.
The Dream will be based out of Port Canaveral, Florida and have 3,4 and 5 night cruises to the Bahamas and to Disney’s private island known as Castaway Cay. It will be the third ship in the Disney cruise line, joining the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder. In 2012, a fourth ship will join the fleet called the Disney Fantasy.
