The very first on-property value resort to open at Walt Disney World of Florida was Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort. This colorfully themed hotel complex provides the basic amenities to guests mixed in with larger than life novelty items relating to sports.

Disney opened the All-Star Sports Resort on April 29, 1994 as the first value resort. It was followed later that year by the All-Star Music Resort and five years later by the All-Star Movies Resort as additional value level offerings. Then in 2003 Disney added the Pop Century Resort with the Art of Animation Resort scheduled to open in 2012.
Making the All-Star Sports Resort unique from the others, however, is the sports theming. The inclusion of these large sports related novelties and decorations is a real plus for those families who are into physical activities.
The guest rooms are placed in five different three-story buildings. These buildings are each themed slightly differently depending on the sport they are meant to symbolize. The five buildings are known as the Home Run Hotel, Hoops Hotel, Touchdown!, Surfs Up! and Center Court.
As the name of the buildings indicate, the Home Run Hotel is themed for baseball, the Hoops Hotel for basketball, Touchdown! for football, Surfs Up! for surfing and Center Court for tennis. Thus, if you have a particular sporting love, you may want to consider making a request for a specific area of the resort. It should be noted that Surfs Up! buildings 1 and 6 contain rooms considered preferred which typically cost more.
There are two pool areas offered for the guests use. This includes the beach-themed Surfboard Bay pool and the smaller Grand Slam Pool which is shaped like a baseball diamond. Guests will also find an arcade in the main Stadium Hall building.
Also found in Stadium Hall is the main lobby along with the End Zone Food Court, the Sport Goofy’s Gifts and Sundries shop. Of interest, Disney first started testing a beverage validation system at the End Zone Food Court.
