With Halloween now officially over, the Walt Disney World Resort has switched gears in preparation for the two-month long celebration of Christmas and New Year’s. This not only includes special parties tied to the Holidays, but an incredible amount of decorations and other special events.

The new theming replaces the Halloween decorations and festivities that have taken place at the parks over the last couple of months such as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. In its place, wreathes, evergreens, twinkling lights and even snow (created by Disney magic, of course) signal the coming season.

Among the first things kicking the holiday season off is Cinderella’s Holiday Wish and Castle Dream Lights at Magic Kingdom Park. A sample of this show taken by the YouTube user FairyTaleBride a few years ago is shown in the window above. The event includes a short show with some of your favorite Disney Characters on the forecourt stage of Cinderella Castle as well a special lighting of literally thousands of lights on the castle. Disney starts this special ceremony beginning this Friday, November 4th and offers it nightly through the season.

As if the amazing holiday decorations found throughout the park are not enough to get guests into the holiday mood, Magic Kingdom Park also hosts special parties for the season. These parties are known as Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and are presented on select nights.

The format and operation of the event is similar to the Halloween Parties offered there for the last couple of months. A separate ticket is required for admission to the party ranging from $56.95 to $62.95 for adults. For that, guests can partake in most of the normal attractions and rides of the park during the party hours of 7PM-12PM. In addition, numerous special activities are offered such as:

  • the aforementioned castle lights
  • Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade
  • Holiday Wishes fireworks show
  • Meet and greet opportunities with Disney characters
  • Complimentary cookies and hot cocoa
  • “Snow” falling on Main Street, U.S.A.
  • other live entertainment

Dates for these parties were announced in May and begin on November 8th. Additional Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parties will be held on November 9, 11, 13, 15, 18, 27, 29, 30 and December 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16 and 18.

Of course, the other parks as well as the resorts also host special holiday related decorations and events.  With all that going on, it makes a great time to visit Walt Disney World!

Hours of operation for the parks during these times can be found on All Things Mouse Park Hours Page.
