Earlier this week, on January 8, 2012, the Disney Fantasy was floated out of its enclosed dock building. The fourth and newest member of the Disney Cruise Lines fleet is now undergoing sea trials before being delivered to Disney Cruise Line officials next month.
With just a little over three months before the scheduled inaugural cruise of the Disney Fantasy, final touches are being completed on the Disney Cruise Line ship. One of those touches was the addition of Dumbo the Flying Elephant as one of the stern characters to be featured on the Fantasy.
The Disney Cruise Line announced plans yesterday to add a another voyage to Hawaii. This means a total of two Hawaiian cruises are now planned by the Disney Cruise Lines for the 50th state out of the west coast of the United States in 2012.
The addition of this second Hawaiian cruise shows that customers must be booking the first scheduled Hawaii trip in decent numbers to justify adding a second itinerary to the islands. Disney lovers on the West Coast (or planning a trip there) will be happy to know that there is now another option available to get a Disney fix in addition to Disneyland and California Adventure. The Disney Wonder arrived at the port of Los Angeles on January 21, 2010 which will serve as its new home base for the foreseeable future.
The Disney Wonder left Port Canaveral in Florida on January 6, 2011 where it had been operating a majority of the time since coming into service in 1999. Its service in Florida was no longer required after the newest Disney cruise ship, the Disney Dream, arrived there to take over the itineraries to the Bahamas and Disney’s own island, Castaway Cay.
Now, the cruise line will offer West Coast trips to the Mexican Riviera and Alaska aboard the Wonder. This schedule already started on January 23rd with the first 7-night Mexican Riviera trip which includes stops in Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas. The Wonder will continue to offer the Riviera schedule until April 17th, 2011 when it will have a one time 10-night Mexico cruise adding a stop in Manzanillo, Mexico. Disney Cruise Line‘s newest ship, the Disney Dream, arrived at its homeport of Port Canaveral yesterday morning, January 4, 2011 to begin preparations for its maiden guest voyage on January 26th.
The massive vessel was officially handed over to Disney officials last month but has only now just arrived at Disney’s Florida cruise line base of operations. It will continue to be stocked and readied for guests to board later this month for a Benefit Preview Cruise in support of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida which sails January 21-23 before the first regularly scheduled cruise leaves on the 26th.

It joins the current Disney Wonder and Disney Magic which served as the only two ships of the fleet since launching in the late 1990′s. A fourth ship, the Disney Fantasy, is currently under construction in Germany and is scheduled to take its maiden voyage next year.
