Baby Swap aka Rider Swap-don’t miss this when traveling with kids!

An often overlooked, but very useful tool to enhance your family’s Disney visit is the Baby Swap, also known as the Rider Swap.  This solves the problem you might have if you are traveling with an infant or young child who does not meet the height requirements for a particular ride.  You might think you need to skip this attraction, but Disney has a solution for you.

What do you need for the baby swap?  At least two responsible adults & one baby or young child who can’t ride one of the attractions this is offered at.  Let’s say Mom and Dad want to ride Tower of Terror, but obviously 2 year old Jessica cannot.  First, Dad waits in the regular line for Tower of Terror while Mom stays outside with little Jessica.  Then, when Dad is done riding, he waits with Jessica while Mom gets right on the ride (instead of having to wait in line again).  This can work with larger groups as well, of course.  Just ask the cast member at the attraction the best way to implement this for your group.

Make sure you tell the cast member at the front of the line right away that you would like to do the baby swap & they will help you out.  Oftentimes, the baby swap is accomplished by a sort of fastpass for the guests waiting with the baby, but each ride is different & the cast member will let you know how it will work for you at the time.
