25th Anniversary of Epcot’s IllumiNations

Yesterday, January 30, 2013, marked the 25th anniversary of  IllumiNations, the nighttime fireworks show held in World Showcase of Epcot. The show originally debuted on January 30, 1988, although there have been several variations offered since that debut.

Its current incarnation is known as IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. This particular variation made its debut on October 1, 1999 as part of Disney’s Millennium Celebration and was known at the time as IllumiNations 2000: Reflections of Earth. It proved hugely successful with guests and led to the dropping of 2000 from the title and its remaining as an entertainment powerhouse up to the present. Much to the delight of many fans, Disney & Lucasfilm have announced that JJ Abrams has been selected as the director of the ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ movie. Production on the movie has not yet begun but it has been tentatively scheduled for a 2015 release date.

Among many other successful works, Abrams has recently accomplished a very popular reboot of the fellow sci-fi “Star Trek” franchise with a blockbuster debut movie of the same name back in 2009. Disney has unveiled the personality line-up for the upcoming 2013 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. The festival is scheduled to take place from March 06 through May 19, 2013 at the Epcot theme park of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Included as part of the festival are flower and garden displays that have been specially themed, interactive play areas for kids, topiary displays features some of the Disney and Disney Pixar characters, the Flower Power Concert series and  HGTV and DIY Network personalities hosting presentations offering tips and advice on their areas of expertise.  Continue reading “2013 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival Line-Up Unveiled” »


Winter can be a great time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida as crowd levels tend to be quite manageable during the season. As most kids are tied down with school, those families are not able to take vacations.

February 2013 Disneyland Park Hours

Those looking for the complete February 2013 Disneyland Park Hours need look no further as they are now available here on All Things Mouse. These operating hours for the two theme parks of the Disneyland Resort including Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.

The calendar below shows the scheduled opening and scheduled closing times for both parks. These times are important to anyone planning a trip to Disneyland in February as it allows them to plan out the best strategy to take in the attractions, parades and shows that they would like to see.

February is not a particularly busy time at Disneyland, as is indicated by the park hours. Despite those shorter hours, guests can typically accomplish a lot thanks to the lower crowd levels.

August 2013 Walt Disney World Park Hours

Available now here on All Things Mouse are the August 2013 Park Hours for the Walt Disney World Resort of Florida. These operating hours are for the four theme parks of Disney World including Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.

For those that do not know, August can be a great time for a vacation at Disney World. One of the main reasons that many go during the month is the fact that for a lot of kids, school is not yet back in session.
