April 2011

Walt Disney World is once again going to be offering the Free Dining special for select package reservations valid on most late summer arrivals. Currently, the special is only being offered to Chase Disney Visa Card holders, but it is expected to go to the general public beginning next week.

Valid arrivals for the free dining begins on August 28, 2011 and run through September 24, 2011, a slightly shorter period than when the special was first offered last year. Those familiar with the crowd patterns of Disney World will note that this is typically one of the slowest times of the year for the parks which makes it a great time to visit if you can fit it into your schedule.

The weather still tends to be on the warm side with highs typically approaching 90 degrees and lows in the 70’s. Frequent rain showers can be seen during September  just like other summer months, but usually pass through very quickly. Perhaps there is no better attraction to welcome you to Disney’s Animal Kingdom then It’s Tough To Be A Bug. This 3-D film with “4-D” effects is found inside the trunk of the Tree of Life, the iconic symbol used for the fourth theme park of Walt Disney World.

It’s Tough To Be A Bug opened on the opening day of the Animal Kingdom on April 22, 1998. It is hosted in a 430-seat auditorium by Flik, an ant taken from the Disney / Pixar film A Bug’s Life with the show running approximately nine minutes.

Walt Disney World guests with small children who are visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios will want to make sure to take a few minutes out of their busy day to let those kids explore Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure. This attraction is located in the Streets of America Area and offers a chance for everyone to stretch their legs a bit after possibly standing in line for other attractions of the theme park.

For those who have not visited the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure, it is a 11,000 square foot play area for all the younger children

While it may have been designed for kids, however, in true Disney fashion, the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure offers something for everyone in that all will at least enjoy walking through the odd playground. Appearing a bit earlier than other recent months, Walt Disney World has released the November 2011 Operating Park Hours. Those thinking of a Thanksgiving break trip will definitely find this information useful as they plan their days in the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Also, any potential Disney guests for that month may be interested in the hours for the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party that is typically held at the Magic Kingdom during November and December. Unfortunately, Disney has not yet announced the official dates on which the party will be held. The dates for the 2010 Very Merry Christmas Parties were announced in May of that year leading us to believe they should be available shortly. One can infer from the normal park hours that are shown, however, which dates MIGHT host the party as the Magic Kingdom closes relatively early at 7 PM many nights during the month.

Loved by adults and kids alike, Muppet*Vision 3-D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios of Walt Disney World is perhaps one of the funnier attractions that you can find in a theme park. It is based on Jim Henson’s Muppets that many have grown-up watching on television and even in some movies.

The attraction first opened on May 16, 1991, a few years after Hollywood Studios itself opened. Those looking to take in Muppet*Vision will need to head to the Backlot area of the park.

As the name of the attraction indicates, it is a 3-D movie that is presented in a theater. Before you sit down for the movie, expect a little pre-show entertainment provided in the queue area. Then, the cast members will allow you to enter the theater which many will find reminds them of the theater shown in the television series “The Muppet Show.” Continue reading “Disneys Hollywood Studios MuppetVision 3D Review and Video” »

With May 2011 fast approaching, many will be interested to know of the Operating Park Hours for both Disneyland as well as California Adventure. All Things Mouse has these hours for you posted in two different formats below.

Those thinking of a Memorial Day weekend trip will definitely find these hours for the two parks helpful in their planning, as will anyone thinking of a trip to the West Coast theme parks during the month of May.

One special scheduling note, on May 7, 2011, Disneyland will be operating for the general public from 7AM – 5PM, at which time it will be closing for a private party. Accordingly, no Morning Magic Hours will be offered on that day. Also, to offer the general public another option, California Adventure will be open extended hours from 10AM – 11PM.

Shown on the calendar below are the hours for both parks as well as the Morning Magic Hours (MMH) for Disneyland. Those unfamiliar with Morning Magic Hours may have heard of Disney World’s similar Extra Magic Hours. However, unlike Disney World, the MMH at Disneyland are offered only on select mornings and never in the evening. Additional details of MMH include:
