In a move that is sure to bring a smile to many faces (if not a joyous scream), Disney has announced that the Disneyland Park will host Mickey’s Halloween Party on select evenings this fall.
Disney is no stranger to Halloween activities – take Walt Disney World, for example. It has long run the very successful Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom.
Even celebrating the event at Disneyland is not new. Parties were held at the original Disney Park for years before they were moved across the promenade to Disney’s California Adventure in 2005. Now they have returned to Disneyland which is sure to be a big hit with Disney patrons.
Walt Disney World has released their park hours schedule for the month of December 2010 which should really excite those possible Disney guests who are planning a trip to WDW for the Christmas through New Year’s season.
The hours we have cover all four of the main theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studio and Animal Kingdom) and the two water parks (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon). Speaking of the water parks, Blizzard Beach is open the typical 10AM – 5PM all month long while Typhoon Lagoon is closed the entire month for refurbishment.
We have noted Walt Disney World’s Extra Magic Hours (EMH) on the calendar as well. EMH signifies additional park hours for select guests – most notably all of those staying at one of the twenty-plus on-property resorts of Walt Disney World. These bonus hours are just one of the benefits provided to those who stay on-property. As an explanation, EMH allows qualified guests to enter either one hour before normal park opening, or stay up to three hours after normal park closing at select parks most days. These additional hours give guests an opportunity to catch some of the more popular rides and attractions when the park crowd numbers are slightly lower than normal. Just like the Seas pavilion itself, attractions inside the pavilion have been added or modified to reflect the wildly popular Pixar blockbuster movie Finding Nemo. One excellent example of this is the Turtle Talk With Crush attraction which opened at the Seas on November 16, 2004.
In fact, when the attraction first opened, it was so popular that plans were almost immediately drawn up for it to be moved to a larger section of the pavilion to allow for additional crowds. This switch occurred a couple of years later when the pavilion officially opened as the Seas with Nemo and Friends.
Guests to the attraction are usually amazed by the comedy and technology involved with the show. Upon entering, guests are seated in a movie theater style room with a large screen (pretending to be a window into the sea) in front of them. Children are asked to sit on the floor in front of the screen “so that they can see the show better.” Continue reading “Epcot’s Turtle Talk With Crush Review and Video” »

Disneyland and California Adventure park operating hours for June 2010 are now available and offered for you below. Those planning an early summer trip will find the information extremely useful in planning your trip to the west coast Disney Parks.
As Disneyland tends to be more of a "local park" in that more Californians visit, the company does not release park hours very far in advance – typically only a month and a half in advance, or so. That is why you are only getting the June park hours now.
We have noted Morning Magic Hours in the calendar with "MMH." Those unfamiliar with Morning Magic Hours may recall it as "Early Entry" if they visited Disneyland in years past. It is similar to the "Extended Magic Hours" offered at Walt Disney World, but differs in a few respects.
MMH is only offered at Disneyland – California Adventure does not participate in the offering.
MMH only occurs on select days, typically Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
MMH is available with select tickets and packages, but not necessarily tied to a room reservation. For instance, guests buying a 3,4 or 5-day park hopper from the Disneyland website are usually offered one admission to the Morning Magic Hour.
Those staying on-property at one of the Disneyland Resorts (Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian or Paradise Pier) usually get entrance to any MMH just by showing their room card.
Valid park admission for the day is required to utilize the MMH option.
Only certain Disneyland attractions are open for MMH.
for more details – see the Disneyland website.
Special event times can be found on Disneyland’s website or on the park maps available when you enter the park.
The Seas with Nemo & Friends is a relatively new take on a pavilion that has been a part of Epcot’s Future World since 1986. It was updated to include the theming and characters of the Pixar blockbuster Finding Nemo.
When the original pavilion opened, it was known as The Living Seas. It invited guests to a short theater presentation called “The Seas” which showed how the world’s oceans were created. From there, guests went into hydro-laters which took them to “Seacabs”, small ride vehicles which moved guests under the large aquarium giving them a view of it the entire way. A new resort at Walt Disney World of Florida has just been announced by the company. To be called Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, the complex will be the first built since Disney’s Pop Century opened in 2003.
In fact, the new resort will be within shouting distance of Pop Century as it will be just across Hourglass Lake. Disney trivia experts will be quick to note that this location was to be built as the Legendary Years section of Pop Century. Plans called for the Legendary Years to showcase the 1900-1940 era just as the current Pop Century highlights the 1950′s-1990′s. Continue reading “New Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Announced” »
